dining out
Renetta in Coppell
I'm planning to be in the area to visit family Nov. 9 - 11 and need to know what would be good. Will have an elderly aunt and need accessible locations, but not the regular for dinner and lunch. Also, any ideas for things to see. I've only been once to Houston and didn't see much.
thx

Hi Renetta,
Nearly every restaurant in Houston is accessible, so you won't have a hard time finding a place to eat with your aunt. Here are some of my favorites:
Artista
Backstreet Cafe
The Grove
Guadalajara del Centro
Irma's
Ouisie's Table
Tintos Spanish Restaurant and Wine Bar
Tiny Boxwoods
If you want to check out the city's top attractions, the most convenient and affordable away to do this is to buy a CityPass. In addition to admission to the top attractions in the city for only $39, a CityPass provides a map, info on the best times to visit each attraction, editorial content from National Geographic Traveler and more. Purchased separately, those same tickets would cost $70.96!. The attractions included on the pass are:
Space Center Houston
Houston Zoo
Downtown Aquarium
Houston Museum of Natural Science
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston OR Children's Museum of Houston
The Health Museum OR George Ranch
If you visit six attractions, you'll save about 50 percent, plus there is great info inside the pass--when to visit, restaurant recommendations from National Geographic Traveler and more. Five of the attractions--Museum of Natural Science, Zoo, MFAH, Children's Museum and the Health Museum--are within walking distance of one another.
The entire Museum District is pretty fantastic. There are more than 17 museums within two miles. Click here to take a look.
Make sure to visit the Houstons Visitors Center in City Hall for everything Houston. While you're there, stroll through Tranquility Park, a beautiful tribute to NASA's lunar missions. Learn about Houston's past at Sam Houston Park on the western edge of downtown and take a guided tour of the eight historic structures in the park, all maintained by Houston's Heritage Society.
Click here for a comprehensive list of events (museum exhibitions, theater performance, etc.) taking place on the dates you're here.
Enjoy,
Veronica
