Hey Teri-
There is so much to see and do in Houston!
The entire Museum District is pretty fantastic. There are 17 museums within 1.5 miles--everything from fine arts to arts and crafts, the Holocaust to science and history. Click here to take a look.
Space Center Houston, the official visitors center for NASA's Johnson Space Center, is the only place on earth where guests can embark on an out-of-this-world journey through human adventures in space. You need to dedicate at least 4 hours for a visit to Space Center Houston. You can call Global Tours at 832-868-8227 for arrangements to Space Center.
There are also some great hidden spots like the Beer Can House and the Art Car Museum.
Houston has so many great restaurants--you can't go wrong here! We've put together a list of award-winning and nationally-recognized restaurants of all price points that might help you narrow it down a bit. Click here to check it out.
For shopping, you can't miss The Galleria. Other great places to go are Rice Village, Uptown Park, Highland Village, The Heights...I could literally go on and on.
Several areas that are fun to just walk and explore are:
-The Heights: a picturesque Victorian neighborhood about 5 minutes from downtown with boutiques, antique shops and cafes.
-Montrose: You'll find everything from resale shops, high end restaurants, trendy boutiques, sidewalk cafes and tatoo parlors in this fun, walkable area.
-Rice Village: A great mix of boutiques, restaurants, bars, big-name shops and hole-in-the-walls near Rice University.
If you want to check out the city's top attractions, the most convenient and affordable away to do this is to buy a CityPass . In addition to admission to the top attractions in the city for only $39, a CityPass provides a map, info on the best times to visit each attraction, editorial content from National Geographic Traveler and more. Purchased separately, those same tickets would cost $70.96!. The attractions included on the pass are:
Space Center Houston
Houston Zoo
Downtown Aquarium
Houston Museum of Natural Science
Museum of Fine Arts, Houston OR Children's Museum of Houston
The Health Museum OR George Ranch Historical Park
If you visit six attractions, you'll save about 50 percent, plus there is great info inside the pass--when to visit, restaurant recommendations from National Geographic Traveler and more. Five of the attractions--Museum of Natural Science, Zoo, MFAH, Children's Museum and the Health Museum--are within walking distance of one another.
You can also calll Global Tours--they'll be happy to help you.
