 Denton A. Cooley, MD

President and Surgeon-In-Chief
Texas Heart Institute

As a native Houstonian, I enjoy all of the public places Houston has to offer including Hermann Park, the Houston Zoo and Memorial Park. There are so many local facilities that are easily accessible.

Everyone is so vested in the progress of Houston. The philanthropic mentality in this city is incredible.

The Port of Houston is a huge commercial asset, all of the petroleum production and refineries are the heart and soul of Houston. Of course the Texas Medical Center plays an important role in making Houston special. It offers wonderful services to the citizens in Houston and the world.

My perfect day in Houston consists of a full schedule of surgeries and all the activities that take place in a hospital. I enjoy using my skills to provide the best to my patients.

When people visit me from out of town, they can't miss St. Luke’s Hospital and the Texas Heart Institute in the Texas Medical Center.

The history of Houston is a powerful story and the San Jacinto Monument and Museum demonstrates the growth of this city and of the nation.

When I have free time, I enjoy spending it on my ranch near the Brazos River. I gather my children and grandchildren together.

The spirit of citizenry in this city is unique. People feel possessive about Houston. They don’t just live here, they own it. The philanthropic generosity stems from that mentality.
