Gary Kubiak
Head Coach, Houston Texans
I know what it means for a city to host a Super Bowl and Houston certainly deserved hosting XXXVIII.
Even though my wife and I lived in Denver for 22 years, we are proud to be from Houston. My wife made sure that our children were born in Houston so they could call themselves Houstonians. Houston has always been home to me and my family and it was a great opportunity to be a head coach in my home town. I want to take this team to the top and I have the passion to make that happen.
Houston is an easy city to sell. I always tell players what a great place Houston is to live in. Growing up here and going to school at A&M re-enforces that. I also tell them that Houston is a sports capitol – with winning teams like the Astros and Rockets, we’re building another winning team with the Texans.
When I get away from football, I head over to my farm in Magnolia.
I love Mexican food. My family and I are regulars at El Tiempo on Richmond.
NASA is an amazing place. I enjoy sitting on the boardwalk at the Kemah Boardwalk. I recently went to Old Town Spring for their Annual Crawfish Festival and listened to Zydeco music. What I like most about Houston is you can drive for 45 minutes one way and be at the ocean or drive in the other and be in the country.
It’s amazing to see different parts of Houston being redeveloped, especially downtown. My parents have had a house in The Heights for 40 years and the growth over there is tremendous.
