| Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau Convention Sales - The Convention Sales Department is responsible for promoting, selling and securing convention business for Houston. Convention Services - Once a meeting is booked, the Convention Services department works with the meeting planner providing a wide range of services including site visits to hotels and facilities, building itineraries, housing and room block consultation, distribution of collateral materials, creation of custom collateral and customized attendance generating promotions. Housing - For groups requiring 1,000 hotel rooms on peak night, the Housing Department uses Passkey System's state-of-the-art housing technology. Attendees may make reservations via the Internet or they can fax or mail housing requests to the GHCVB for processing. An in-house calling center is staffed by GHCVB employees. Communications - The Communications Department is responsible for promoting the Greater Houston area locally, regionally and nationally, utilizing advertising, public and media relations, sponsorships, special events, promotions, Web site and collateral development.Film Commission - The Houston Film Commission brings motion picture and video production on location to the Greater Houston area and assists in the development and expansion of the local film and video industry. Finance/Administration - The Finance and Administration Department is the support mechanism for the day-to-day business operations of the Bureau. Houston Image Group - The Houston Image Group works hand in hand with the Communications department to market the Greater Houston area. While the Communications Department focuses on domestic markets, the Houston Image Group works internationally, focusing on both leisure and business travelers. Protocol - Through its interactions with city government, the Consular Corps, visiting dignitaries, the corporate sector, international service and non-profit organizations, and the general public, the Houston International Protocol Alliance facilitates Houston's relations with the international community in the areas of diplomacy, business, culture, education, space, medicine, and technology. The office is also charged with developing public awareness of Houston's international activities and international cooperation and understanding. Tourism - The Tourism Department is responsible for promoting the city of Houston as a tourism destination and works closely with travel agents and tour operators from around the world. Visitors Center - The Houston Visitors Center is the first stop for anyone wanting to know what there is to do in Houston. The center is full of museum-quality exhibits, souvenirs, information and a knowledgeable staff.
