Myself and a buddy will be in Houston on 4th August and are looking to play a round of golf. Are there any courses close to the Holiday Inn on JFK BLVD, and do any of them hire Golf clubs? Thank you, Ed
Cypresswood Golf Club or Tour 18 Golf are both about15 minutes away from your hotel, and a beautiful courses. Yes, rental clubs are available at both courses - I'd call ahead and ask for the rental clubs when you make your tee time.
For other courses around town, check out our golf round up.
My wife and I are staying at the Royal Sonesta by the Galleria for 3 days in August. I do not particularly want to hire a car and have already booked a full day tour to Space center. However we will probably want to visit the Museum district and also eat in the Fondren / South Braeswood area. Can you give me some info on the likely taxi costs to get to and from these areas from our hotel? Thanks
Welcome to Houston! Of course:
Hotel to Space Center: ~33 miles and $75 each way
Hotel to Museum District: ~ 7 miles and $20 each way
Hotel to Fondren/ South Braeswood: ~7 miles and $20 each way
Luckily, the Museum District has 20 museums within walking distance, so that's an option to save on taxi costs.
Hope this helps,

Many thanks for the prompt reply. Very helpful.
Hi i am thinking of visiting Texas in october 16-18. I was wondering if there was an escourted tour that took one to all the cool sites that i found on your website? including the NASA space centre, USS ship and all the historical aspects as well? Thanks for getting back to me.
Thanks for reaching out to me! There is a company called Houston City Tours that can take you around to some of the spots in Downtown and the Museum District on a double-decker bus. They can also take you down to Space Center Houston on a shuttle. They do not however incorporate other attractions like Battleship Texas. You can work with one of our tour companies to create something custom, but if it's just yourself or a small group, that may not be cost-effective. The best way to see it all is to rent a car, but if that's not possible, I know that Houston City Tours and others like The Wave can help you!
Hi Veronica, I will be visiting Houston August 17 - August 25 and am wondering about exciting things to do while I'm there. Where can I find interesting restaurants, concerts and entertainment?
That's a great question! We offer a great resource for all things Houston on www.VisitHouston.com. On our Calendar of Events, there are a lot of options for things to do. I took the liberty of doing a search for the dates you will be in town. Check out the results here.
For places to eat, check out our Restaurant section. And for more ideas, here more than a few Things to Do!
I hope that helps and hope you have a great visit!
Hello Veronica, My family reunion is next Thurs 7/17-7/19 I am needing suggestions to take a group of 40. We will be staying in the Galleria area. Suggestions do not have to be in that area.
I hope this helps!
Hello Veronica, we are a group of 40, we will be staying at a hotel near Hobby Airport and we want to visit the NASA. What type of transport do you suggest? We cannot rent cars for everyone and are on a tight budget. Thank you for your help
Hi, Veronica Can you tell us the best time to visit to see rodeo and country music events in 2015
That is a great question and I have your answer. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo takes place each year the 1st three weeks in March. Rodeo time has been a tradition in Houston since 1932, and the three-week extravaganza at NRG Park continues to consume the city every spring. The kickoff for the Houston Livestock Show and RodeoTM is the Rodeo Parade, after trail riders ride into town and set up camp in Memorial Park. All 20 championship rodeo competitions are concluded with entertainment by music superstars.
Hi Veronica, I will be in Houston just one day, August 5th 2014, and I'm looking for some sport events like football, baseball, wrestling, cars, monster truck, etc. etc. for this day in the afternoon - evening. Could you please inform me about above events? Thank you so much from Italy. Roberto
Houston is definitely a great sports town but unfortunately on August 5th it seems most of our professional teams will not be playing in Houston. Our baseball team, the Astros, will be out of town playing the Phillies on August 5th. Our soccer team, the Dynamo, doesn't have a game scheduled for that day either. The football and basketball season will not have begun at that point.
That said, you can catch a horse race at Sam Houston Race Park which is a lot of fun. There are also a lot of things to do if you want to participate in some activities. Check out the Beyond Spectator portion of our sports itinerary for ideas.
For other things to do on August 5, I've conducted a search on our calendar of events for you to check out. Outside of events, Houston has a great museum district and lots of fun things to do. Browse our website and I'm sure you'll find something great. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
My boyfriend & I got too much sun yesterday, but I have 1 day left in my visit to Houston, and want to find something to do (not stay in his apartment all day). What can you suggest that is mainly an indoor (no sun) activity?
Hope I'm catching you in time!
we want to find a good place where we can park and view the fireworks display from our car and avoid the crowds..thanks
I'm so sorry I missed your question! In the future, be sure to check out our round up of July 4th fireworks.
