Hello Veronica, Please advise of any fun cultural events from this Saturday from 5pm-11pm. Thank you in advance! Archie
Well hello, Archie!
Please take a look at our calendar of events for that day. A few in particular happening just on Saturday are A Houston Classic: Reality Bites, CITYCENTRE Glisten Holiday Lighting and Concert Choral with Mercury-The Orchestra Redefined.
Aside from one-time events, there are plenty of on-going cultural stops you can make. Check out these itineraries for some more ideas.
Hope that helps!
I and my friends are going to Houston. Then we have a conference at Hampton Inn, 1450 Center St, Deer Park. Could you please tell me that how can we get there from Houston? Thank you.
First of all, welcome to Houston and I hope you have a great visit! Do you know the general area of Houston you will be staying? That might help me narrow down the best transportation options for you.
That said, Deer Park is about 25 minutes (18 miles) from downtown Houston. By taxi from downtown, the cost would be roughly $44. You can get a cab by calling these numbers, or by using a smartphone app:
Fiesta Cab Co. .............(713) 225-2666
Liberty Cab Co. ............(713) 695-6700
Lone Star Cab Co. .......(713) 444-4444
Yellow Cab Houston ......(713) 428-5810
Note: For the fastest pick up, use the Yellow Cab's Hail A Cab app or Lone Star Cab's Taxi Magic app.
You can also rent a car. Houston has a fleet of 30,000 rental cars with every major rental car company represented. Click here to search and book rental car agencies.
You can visit our website for maps and more information on transportation options, as well as things to do while you are visiting.
I hope that helps and enjoy your stay,
by: Veronica from Houston
From the airport a taxi ride will be about $73. I recommend either taking a taxi or renting a car, depending on your needs. There are links to more information on renting a car at the links above. Other than those two options, there are no direct buses to Deer Park.
I hope that helps!

We are going to Deer park from G.Bush Int'l Airport. Thank you so much. Should we take a cab? could you please recommend any transports?
I wanna propose to my GF tomorrow night where should I go? I was thinking a carriage ride but I do not know if they are open on week days
Good Eve Veronica, Are there any plays or special events going on the 24th of Nov. We will be in Houston for first time -- our son just moved there and it is his birthday...any ideas. Plays...what are some great places to take him and his wife...they are in their early 30's. Also, what is great for Thanksgiving Day Dinner? Do you know what time the FIREWORKS start in the uptown festival...also what goes on earlier around 4 pm or so. Are there any places outside of Houston maybe an hour away that you suggest visiting as well. Thanks and have a good week, Roe
Good mornin', Roe!
Thanks so much for your questions. I'd be happy to help share a few events for your first time visit with your son and wife. Houston has a lot to offer, so why don't I share this calendar of events with you so you can browse through and find some things you think they might like. I will point out a few that come to mind for November 24:
For sports: Check out the Houston Texans game
For shopping: the 8th annual Winter Holiday Art Market
For a show at the Alley Theater: A Christmas Carol
For some outdoor fun: It will be the first weekend to enjoy Ice at Discovery Green
Check out these itineraries for more ideas, and I also suggest a Houston City Pass if you plan on visiting more than one attraction.
As far as restaurants, the possibilities are endless (and can be overwhelming). Take a look at our restaurant listings and you can narrow down by a couple of categories. Since everyone is farely new to Houston, here are the top 15 Houston icons you may want to check out.
The Uptown Lighting will take place at 7 p.m. For more details on the event you can visit their website.
A little bit further down the road, you can check out the Texas Renaissance Festival, Space Center houston, and the Kemah Boardwalk.
For Thanksgiving Dinner, there are many restaurants serving up a holiday feast. Take a look at this list of restaurants and then click on the Reserve Now button to secure a seat.
I hope this helps and that you enjoy your time with your family here in Houston!
Hi, I'm currently in Katy but staying in Houston City Centre from Friday to Sunday. I'm catching the park'n'ride into the city on Friday from Katy but cannot find times for Sunday. Is there anyway to get from Houston to Katy via bus (public transport) on Sunday? Cheers
I'm sorry if I missed your deadline, but the best way to look up the bus schedule is using Metro's Trip Planner. This way you can plug in your location, where you're going, the day and time you're going.
Hope this helps,
Hello, I would like to explore art or cultural events, but wonder if there is something to do tonight after 8pm, looking some events at the museum but during the night. Thanks Linda
Thanks so much for your question and I'm happy to help. The Museum of Fine Arts hosts Happy Hour Thursdays each week. MFAH admission is always free on Thursdays and from 6 to 8 pm you'll enjoy happy hour with tunes from a local DJ, light bites from Ladybird Food Truck and a cash bar. The museum is open til 9pm every Thursday.
For a full list of today's event you can visit the Houston Events Calendar or check out more on our museums.
I hope that helps and you have a great time in the museum district.
I have relatives coming for the holidays and wanted to bring them to the visitors center. Is the visitors center still located in City Hall? I was told it had moved closer to GRB and Discovery Green.
Great question! The Visitor Center is still located at City Hall, 901 Bagby. You are correct, however, that while the Visitor Center is still at City Hall, the Greater Houston Convention and Visitor Bureau offices have moved downtown.
Just in case you would like a few more suggestions on things to do while your family is in town, check out these itineraries that might be of interest.
I hope that helps and enjoy your visit with your relatives!
Hi V, We are headed to Houston for a cruise and are looking for hotel suggestions close to the port. Can you offer some suggestions for 3 star + hotels? Thanks! Stephanie
The Kemah Boardwalk Inn or South Shore Harbour Resort and Conference Center are both just down the street from the Port of Houston. Be sure to book the hotels, using the "book now" button on our website, to get the best price guarantee!
Both hotels also close to the Kemah Boardwalk, which has some great entertainment and dining options before you board your cruise.
Dear Madam I need to know what sightseeing places I can visit during my stay from first of December till 5th December. Thanks BR Eman
I suggest you visit these major attractions:
Houston offers a diverse and eccentric arts scene filled with contemporary and progressive works. Don't miss the Art Car Museum/Beer Can House/Orange Show Monument, Discovery Green, David Adickes' president's heads (on Summer Street), The Galleria, The Menil Collection, San Jacinto Monument, Buffalo Bayou Boat Tours.
Also you may want to take a look at our Holiday Roundup if any of these things interest you!
Finally, this is our Calendar of Events for Dec. 1 - 5!
I hope this helps!
Courtyard Marriott Houston hotel by Galleria. Do bus tours e.g., Space Centre pick up from this hotel (or close by}? Is it close to public transport? Is it safe to walk around at night in this area? Are there restaurants close by? Thank You Ed
If you're interested in a tour going down to Space Center, contact Houston City Tours. They can work with you to arrange a tour down that direction.
The only public transportation around the Galleria area will be the city bus. You can use the Metro Trip Planner once you have your destinations selected, dates and times for when you want to go.
Yes, the area is safe to walk around at night. You are very close to the Galleria shopping mall, and can shop and dine within walking distance from your hotel. You can also check out the "what's near by" feature on our website to get a better idea of other restaurant and nightlife options in the area.
Hope this helps!
