Vendor
Submitted by Sunny L Shores from Houston on 07-27-2012
Question:

I was wondering is there a place to get a list of events such as the market at discovery green etc. that list what events have vendor spaces available to rent? Such as the the different festivals etc. the different markets like the nutcracker market etc. I have jewelry old & new & a lot of cool things & trendy things that I would like to set up & sell but I do not know about events until it is to late to register or to get ready for them. Thank you

Answer:

Hi Sunny,

I don't know of such a list to get vendor information.  I do know places like the Nutcracker Market have a pretty extensive application process, so you'll probably need to contact these places individually.

You can always check out the Events Calendar - the bigger events that people will attend should be listed in advance, so be sure to check there.

Hope this helps,

Veronica

Marienka,
I would check the following sites:

www.chron.com/jobs

www.monster.com

www.houstonjobs.com

If you're interested in a specific industry, I would look for a Houston chapter of associations related to that industry. For example, if you're in the advertising industry, look into http://www.aaf-houston.org/en/jobs/search.asp or http://amahouston.net/marketing-jobs/houston-job-postings/.
Good luck!
Veronica

Dear Veronika,
I would also like to use this opportunity for asking you the following.
I visited Houston for several times in the past.
Now,
having considered some circumstance,
I would like to ask you for helping me in getting the list
of the Houston job portals in order to be able to start my job search
over there.
I would appreciate your advice.
Thanks you very much in advance.
Have a nice day.
Kind regards,
Marienka Fratricova

What to do when all dressed up...
Submitted by Katie from Houston, TX on 07-26-2012
Question:

Hi Veronica, My wedding guests will have about 1 1/2 hour gap between my ceremony and reception. Since they will all be dressed up, what would be a good recommendation for what they can do in Houston for that time period until the reception? Thanks!

Answer:

Katie,

Where are your ceremony and reception taking place? If I have a better idea of the area of town, I can make some suggestions.

Katie,
I would contact large venues that could accommodate a lot of people and set up a private room for a few hours where guests can gather. It will be up to you whether you make it a cash bar or provide a few drinks for your guests, but it's always nice to direct them to a specific place, rather than sending them out to fend for themselves. I'd contact Ocean Palace--that space is huge. If they can't accommodate, I'm sure they have other suggestions.

Katie, Do you have anything in mind that you want them to do? Are you looking for a bar to send people so they can hang out for an hour or so?

Reunion
Submitted by Nic from Houston on 07-25-2012
Question:

Hello, We may not have a large enough class reunion group to afford a banquet space reservation at a hotel, so do you know of any large restaurants that have large event rooms where we can meet instead? Thanks

Answer:

Nic,

We have a great feature on our website that lets you search event space in restaurants, hotels, shops, etc. Just click here, select Restaurant from the drop down menu and then enter your banquet capacity.  All restaurants that fit your request will populate.

If you need anything else, let me know!

Question:

Can I get to caroline st the federal building riding the metrorail

Answer:

Trece,

The MetroRail runs along Main, so you could walk from Caroline to Main (they run parallel), and then take the MetroRail to the Downtown Transit Center stop and walk four blocks to the Federal Building. Hope this helps!

Lion King
Submitted by Sharon Perry from Houston on 07-23-2012
Question:

Need to ticket to Lion King. Do you know of any discounts for the Lion King

Answer:

Sharon,

There aren't any official discounts that I'm aware of for the Lion King.  Typically, when a show is this popular, there are very few discounts. However, if you go on a Tuesday night, tickets seem to be the cheapest.

Hope this helps!

Prickly pear products and baby activities
Submitted by S from Rice-Military Neighbourhood on 07-22-2012
Question:

Hello, I am having a hard time locating a place online that sells prickly pear jam/products. Do you know where I could buy some? I will be arriving in Houston In a couple of weeks with my 4 month old baby. Are there any specific baby friendly tourist attractions that you would recommend that are going on in the first week of August? Thanks!

Answer:

Sonia,

You can purchase prickly pair jelly from Amazon.com.  Click here for the link.

I would definitely visit The Children's Museum of Houston. An exhibit for children three years and younger, Tot Spot provides a wonderland of invigorating activities for infants and toddlers. Other kid-friendly (but not specific to babies) attractions are the Houston Zoo, Downtown Aquarium and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.

If you have additional questions, let me know!

Question:

My family is looking for something fun and relatively inexpensive to do next Saturday that doesn't require a lot of walking or standing. what can you recommend

Answer:

Hi Angie,

We have a section of our site called Houston for Free that might prove helpful. A lot of these items though do entail walking. So let's see what else I can suggest.

There's a free performance at Miller Outdoor Theatre on Saturday evening called Street Beat. The Houston Astros are playing the Pittsburgh Pirates. Murder by Chocolate Mystery Theatre. Tickets to the Ringling Bros. Circus start at $18. There's also a Bands on the Sand concert at Moody Gardens in Galveston. Here's the rest of the calendar for July 28.

And for more things to do in Houston, click here.

I hope this helps!

Hi Love,

The Hilton Americas Houston is the largest and I believe the newest Hilton property in the city. It is connected to the George R. Brown Convention Center Downtown, is within walking distance of great restaurants and nightlife and has an abundance of amenities. Click here for more information.
