Im looking for a nice urban/mixed crowd that enjoys music and art work. Any suggestions.
Arei,
Have you considered becoming a member of any of the museums or becoming involved in a musical organization? Most arts and music groups around the city have memberships or groups that get together for networking events. If you can tell me specifically what kind of art and music you like, I can give you more specific suggestions of who to contact.
Thanks!

Hi veronica I will Visiting Houston, TX the week of June 25th thru June 269th. I'm planning to purchas the citypass to see the Aquarium, Space Center and so forth. So what i would like to do is get a Condo or Townhome for that week. Are there any available somewhere in between those two tourist attractions. Thanks
Hi Doris,
The Houston CityPASS is great!
I don't know of any condos or townhomes you can rent for a week, but I'd recommend you look at an extended stay hotel. As far as area of town, I think Downtown or the Museum District is the best place to look. You can travel between Downtown and Museum District using the Houston Light Rail system as well.
For hotels, I recommend The Magnolia Hotel, the Lancaster, Hotel Icon or Hotel ZaZa.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

I am looking forward to go out with my kids to Battleship Museum. Is there any place there is that is free that our kids would also think is fun. I am looking forward for your reply.
Hi Khan,
If you are out at Battleship Texas there are a few other things that are very cool to do close by. Just down the street is the San Jacinto Monument & Museum, which has a great display on Texas history and offers a fantastic view of the area from atop the monument.
Also, Armand Bayou Nature Center is close by, with trails, wildlife exhibits and much more!
Hope this helps.

Hello Veronica, My name is Daniela Carreno nice meeting you. I'd be visiting Houston, TX on the first week of July. I am from El Centro, CA and a friend will be going with me. However, we have never been in Houston before. The only reason we are going to Houston is to work only for a month in La Fisheria restaurant (4705 Inker St. Houston, TX) For this reason, we are looking for a place to stay for about a month and means for transportation. I did some research and I found out that you count with Houston Metro but I am not sure if this will be the more convenient means of transportation or paying for a cab everyday. We have been looking for apartments but most offered us a minimum stay of three months. Then we started looking for an extended stay in a hotel but we found out they are a bit more expensive. If you could helped me with all this information I would really appreciate it. Thank You Daniela Carreno
Hi Daniela,
I don't know of any apartments in the area that rent for a month. But, you should look into extended stay hotels in the Heights area, which is close to La Fisheria.
I recommend Sara's Bed & Breakfast Inn, Sycamore Heights and Modern B & B. Other options include the Howard Johnson Express Inn Houston Downtown and Sleep Inn & Suites.
As far as transportation, the Metro Bus is a good option. Be sure to check out Metro's Trip Planner to schedule your rides. You could also look into renting a car or taking a taxi.
Hope this helps!

Daniela,
So funny I saw your posting. We are going to be working with La Fisheria I believe. The GHCVB has asked me to get in touch with them. I am waiting to hear back still. But we have your transportation option for you & so much more. Here is what the GHCVB includes in their packets about The Wave.
Want to see Houston like a local? Catch The Wave, Houston’s jitney shuttle service. If you’re wondering what a jitney is, it is a “fixed rate, fixed route, circulator with seating for more than 9 & less than 15 passengers”. We are a hybrid between a taxi, a limo, and a public bus. A taxi b/c we can do some door to door service and you can call to get a pick-up. A limo b/c our vehicles have upgraded stereo, televisions, lights, seating, and other luxuries. A public bus b/c anyone can get on board.
We also offer private rental service with a concierge service as requested. Our team of drivers, dispatchers, and event coordinators know what is going on in this great city and can help you in coordinating your visit. We have lists of businesses, must see, restaurants, game calendars, etc. on board to help in your planning as well.
Each year, The Wave provides transportation to thousands of Houstonians and her visitors; shuttling for large city-wide events, nights out in Inner Loop Houston and private parties such as birthday parties, company dinners, progressive dinners, nights at the theater, a day at the museums, and much more. The Wave is the financially, environmentally, and socially responsible way to get around Houston.
We enjoy being part of your success stories no matter how small or large the event or party. Call The Wave today to book your transportation while visiting Houston 713.863. WAVE (9283). I'm visiting the Houston area with my spouse - what are the most see sightseeing attractions, seafood dining places, and nightlife for African American?
Hi Greer,
Welcome to Houston! We're so glad you're coming!
For attractions and things to do, I'd recommend Project Row Houses, Museum of Fine Art - African Art Collection, Museum of African American Culture and Gregory Lincoln Library.
For seafood dinner options, I recommend Pappadeaux on Kirby. Other great dining options are the Breakfast Klub, and Chacho's . Here are other award winning restaurants in Houston if you are interested as well.
For nightlife, I suggest you visit Sambuca, Red Cat Jazz Cafe, Club 4212 or the Red Rooster.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Organic Farmers Market?
Hi,
Here is a link to Houston Farmers Markets. Many of these Farmers Markets sell local food and ingredients, but I'd call ahead to double check who is selling organic items.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

We will be in town June 19-21 staying with our daughter in Katy. One day we will play golf so we have 2 days to sight see. The Downtown Aquarium sounds interesting (although since we live near Sea World, we are not sure about visiting that), Art Car Museum, Beer Can House, and Orange Show seem like fun places to visit. We were thinking about Discovery Green and renting one of the golf carts they advertise. We are in our 60's and are used to heat (live in Florida). I saw something about a water feature in Houston. Also I noticed Kemah Boardwalk and and The Woodlands also. Suggestions? Thanks, Karen
Hi Karen,
I suggest you all look into a Houston CityPASS - it will get you into all the top attractions at 45% savings (including the Downtown Aquarium). The Houston Museum of Natural Science has a ton of exciting things happening since the new Paleo Hall opened June 2nd and the museum also has the Titanic Exhibit. Be sure to check in our Coupons and Discounts section as we have a great coupon for HMNS.
Have you seen our itinerary section? It sounds like you would love the Off The Wall itinerary and I suggest you check out History Buff as well.
Also, Houston has a new "bike sharing" program downtown called Houston B-Cycle with 3 seperate bike stations downtown. This would be a fun way to get between Downtown Aquarium and Discovery Green.
As far as a water feature, Houston has a fun tourist spot in the Galleria area called the Water Wall - does that sound familiar?
The Woodlands is about 30 miles from the center of Houston and Kemah Boardwalk is about 35 miles. I'm not as familiar with those areas of town, so I suggest you contact their information centers, here and here.
Let me know if you have any other questions,
Veronica
I took my sister to the Spaghetti Warehouse downtown to view the upstairs dining room where they claim there are ghosts. Do you have any other places where I can take her for ghost hunting downtown?
Hi Anna,
Here is a list of the most haunted places in Houston/Galveston.
While downtown, be sure to check out the site of the Rice Hotel, now Rice Lofts, the Esperson Buildings and the Julia Ideson Library.
Have fun!
Veronica
Good Morning, Do you have an office where I can just walk in for some leaflets and talk to some "real" people? If yes, where is it? Thank you! B.
Hi Beatrix,
Yes, you can visit the Houston Visitors Center, 901 Bagby, on the first floor of City Hall.
The Visitors Center is open Monday-Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Their phone number is 713-437-5200.
Let me know if you have any additional questions,
Veronica
I am looking for a unique evening team building activity in Houston. Thoughts?
Hi Chip,
Here is a link to some great team building activities. Lucky Strike Bowling is great, especially if you need a private room space or K1 Speed Go-Cart racing which opens their first location in Houston soon.
If you're looking for a unique venue to host team building activities, you may want to consider the Houston Zoo or even St. Arnold's Brewery.
Hope this helps,
Veronica
