Everything really is bigger in Texas. Houston recently broke ground on a 20-acre BMX park adjacent to the North Houston Skatepark, the largest skatepark in North America. The North Houston Bike Park will be one of the largest parks of its kind in the country when completed in the fall of 2017.

Located just minutes from Bush Intercontinental Airport, the bike park will feature a BMX-sanctioned race track, street course, freestyle ramps and bowls, and a community events center. The complex is expected to cost between $13 and $14 million and backers believe it will draw cyclists from across the country and perhaps even abroad for recreation as well as training for the X-Games and other major sporting events.  The Greens Bayou bike trail will also connect to the park providing recreational and mountain biking options. The park will be free to the general public.

With the support of Mayor Annise Parker and the Greenspoint Redevelopment Authority the North Houston Bike Park is sure to make Houston an extreme sports haven.
