A number of acclaimed Houston chefs are coming together for a good cause and a fun weekend this spring.

The Recipe For Success Foundation is a Houston nonprofit that aims to combat childhood obesity by educating kids about healthy food choices. Over the last decade, the group has empowered more than 30,000 children in Houston through a variety of award-winning programs offered in local schools. In May, the foundation is hosting an historic three-part celebration dubbed Delicious Alchemy in honor of its 10th anniversary.

Recipe For Success founder and CEO Gracie Cavnar feels that food is a vital form of art: it graces the senses of taste, touch, sound, and sight. To represent that art form, each aspect of the Delicious Alchemy celebration will include performing and visual arts. The three parts of Delicious Alchemy are The Community Supper, The Art of Food, and The Banquet. Support for Delicious Alchemy will help fund Hope Farms, Recipe For Success’ new initiative to create an educational urban farm.

The Community Supper

On Sunday, May 22, Delicious Alchemy’s takeover of the popular Sunday Streets Festival will kick off along the White Oak Bayou. The Sunday Streets Festival is a four-hour event one Sunday a month that encourages Houstonians to get out and socialize with the community. Joining in on the fun, Delicious Alchemy will highlight a history of communal dinners, like spaghetti suppers and pancake breakfasts. Attendees are invited to bring a bag lunch and enjoy the fresh air with fellow Houstonians. As an added bonus, look for Christos Gourmet Food Truck, as well as the Rolling Green Market on your trek through Houston streets.

The Art of Food

The Art of Food on May 20 promises to be an evening to remember. This part of Delicious Alchemy will feature an art show and sale, a cookbook signing, music, poetry, and of course plenty of food prepared by some of Houston’s most creative chefs. Ticket options are $150 and $250 per person.

The Banquet

If you are one of the 100 guests with exclusive access to the final portion of Delicious Alchemy on May 19, you will find yourself among sparkling chandeliers, a 10-course meal prepared by iconic Houston chefs, and all of the founding members of the Recipe For Success Foundation Chef’s Advisory Board, including acclaimed Houston chefs Bryan Caswell and Monica Pope. Entrance to this intimate affair is $2,500 per person.

No matter what your price range is, you can contribute to a great cause while enjoying some of the best fresh culinary ideas Houston has to offer. Learn more and get tickets here.
