The Children's Museum of Houston took the No. 2 spot on USA Today Travel's list of the best museums for families.

The top 10 list, released this week, ranks museums nationwide on their activities suited for today's families. A cadre of experts first compiled a large list of quality museums around the country, which was then turned over to the public to vote on.

The list will run in the print edition of USA Today on Friday, February 21.

The USA Today write-up says: "The Children's Museum of Houston welcomes families and invites them to experience a day of fun spread over fourteen exciting galleries. Kids can explore hydro-power, or learn about ecology at the museum's EcoStation, or visit a city 'for kids, run by kids' called Kidtropolis. Thursdays are free for families, an even greater incentive to turn off the television and step into a world of real-life wonder."
