A display of Art Deco inspired fashion garments by students from Houston Community College’s Fashion and Costume Design Program will be exhibited at Two Allen Center from July 12 – Sept. 29, 2016. Presented by Arts Brookfield, the cultural arm of the global real estate corporation, “Refinement of Line in Fashion and Machine” is a collection of eight garments and jewelry created during Fashion Fusion, an annual fashion competition presented by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and Houston Community College. This year’s competition was inspired by the Museum’s recent exhibition, Sculpted in Steel: Art Deco Automobiles and Motorcycles, 1929-1940, featuring classic cars from the Art Deco period. Curated by Sally Reynolds, the exhibitions includes student designers include Criseyda Arriaza, Kitty Dupas, Bridget Fizer, Alan Gonzalez, Maria Hammond, Luisa Nadarajah, Silvia Otaola and Teresa Rangel. An opening reception will be held on Sept. 14 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
