Tattoo-toting, Inner-Loopers have been filling Catbirds since the laid-back dive bar opened more than a decade ago. Set on Lower Westheimer—just a few blocks west of Montrose Boulevard—Catbirds is known for its potent libations, old-school jazz soundtrack and casual-cool attitude.
The sounds of Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra emanate from the intimate space, which is adorned in murals depicting jazz and blues legends, neon accents and a horse-shoe shaped bar—the latter of which makes a prime perch for competitive rounds of NTN trivia. Grab a mixed-drink, martini or brew— though limited, the beer selection is well-thought-out—and snag a seat on the front or side patio.
