In May 2012, Galveston Island paid homage to its past with the return of the city’s Historic Pleasure Pier. The Landry’s owned-and-operated amusement park—which replaced the Hurricane Ike-battered Flagship Hotel—stands where the city’s original Pleasure Pier stood from 1943 until 1961, before being destroyed by Hurricane Carla.

The $60-million project stretches approximately 1,130 feet over the Gulf of Mexico—more than three football fields in length—and provide the area with family-oriented attractions, including 16 rides, games, retail shops and food venues like Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

Passengers can experience 100-foot vertical drops at 52 miles per hour on the Pier’s Iron Shark. Other thrill-seeking offerings include a log-flume ride, the high-spinning ‘Revolution’ and the Texas Flyer—the tallest swing ride in the state.

Landry’s expects the pier to draw visitors from Houston and other Texas communities, as well as fans throughout the country.

Ride hours are seasonal. For a current schedule, visit the Pier's website.
