The Houston Texans, the NFL's 32nd franchise, played their first game in Reliant Stadium on Sept. 8, 2002. The Texans become the first NFL team in 41 years to win their expansion debut, stunning the Dallas Cowboys 19-10 before 69,604 fans.
The Texans began the 2006 season with a new coach, native Houstonian Gary Kubiak, and 2006 No. 1 draft pick defensive end Mario Williams. Williams joins former quarterback David Carr as the team’s second number-one overall player taken in the draft.
