Houstonians are heading to Brock Wagner’s Saint Arnold’s Brewery in droves for air-conditioned tastings at the new three-story location, set on the edge of Downtown.
Texas’ oldest craft brewer made the move to the nearly 100-year-old space just north of I-10 in 2010, bringing along beer-making equipment purchased from a now-defunct Bavarian monastery, 240 barrel fermenters and new kegging lines. Guests are able to explore the new biergarten-inspired space, sample brew in the tasting room, get a peek at the tank farm, and even host private events inside the facility. Tastings are offered every Saturday at 11am and weekdays at 3pm. For $7, attendees receive a logo-encrusted tasting glass, a guided tour of the facility, a history of American brewing and details on the process that turns grain into beer. Attendees (of legal age) also can sample a few delicious Saint Arnold beers.
In spring 2013, the brewery expanded its offerings, adding a fixed lunch menu, prepared by Executive Chef Ryan Savoie. The talent, who manned the stoves at The Grove and Alto, serves New American fare like Root Beer pork loin and chuck roast chili. Lunch is offered Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Beer is available for sampling.
St. Arnold's brews ten different beers. Five are made year round and five are seasonal. They are available in bars, restaurants, grocery stores, liquor stores and warehouse stores in Houston, Austin, Dallas, Ft. Worth and San Antonio.
