Along with its neighbor Kung Fu, V-21 Vodka & Vino is helping bring a little class to the western end of Washington Avenue.
This industrial-chic space (think exposed brick and duct-work and concrete floors) beckons the young professional crowd. There’s also a large, open patio to take in the party atmosphere of the Washington strip.
As the name suggests, the focus at V-21 is on the extensive wine list and specialty vodka cocktails. While some mixologists eschew vodka drinks, V-21 has built an entire menu around some of their favorites. The Legend incorporates Absolut, blackberry liqueur, lime juice, simple syrup and bitters. And if you’re up for something a little sweet, definitely try the Thin Mint made with Three Olives chocolate vodka.
As for the bites, the menu isn’t extensive but what’s offered is a nice compliment to this chic space. The great wonton of shrimp consists of two large shrimp rolled in a crispy wonton, lightly fried and topped with a sweet Thai chili sauce. Or check out the scallops heilotes, pan-seared and served over light jalapeno corn relish.
