The second Montrose-area location of El Tiempo Cantina’s wildly popular Tex-Mex concept opened along Lower Westheimer in spring 2015. The sibling restaurant is the seventh location in the Laurenzo family’s culinary empire, which is known for its signature fajitas and margaritas. The Laurenzo’s are affectionately known as Houston’s First Family of Tex-Mex. Mama Ninfa Laurenzo, their matriarch, introduce sizzling fajitas to the world in 1977.
This new outpost unfolds in a two-story space with 297 seats, a slightly larger venue than the original Montrose location, but the food that fans love remains the same. The menu features classics like tacos, tamales, chalupas, enchiladas and combo plates while house specialties involve the mesquite wood fire grill for savory fajitas, quail, baby back ribs, jalapeño sausage, fresh fish and spicy bacon-wrapped shrimp. The full bar serves premium tequilas, fresh made margaritas and pitchers of brandy-laden sangria.
El Tiempo Westheimer is open for lunch and dinner daily, along with breakfast on Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
