Good Dog Houston

903 Studewood Street | Houston, TX 77008

Good Dog has been rewarded for good behavior (and flavor) and given a more permanent home indoors. Following the success of its food truck, the locally loved and nationally recognized eatery has set up shop in The Heights neighborhood.

Good Dog’s launch to the next level comes as no surprise to its loyal followers, or to those reading recent headlines listing the Houston hot (dog) spot as one of America’s Best Hot Dogs by Fox News, Esquire Magazine, The Daily Meal, and multiple Houston media outlets. Not much has changed on the menu, mainly sticking with what it does best: a good dog.

The natural-casing hot dogs are made locally, and all the toppings are made in-house. The Slow Dough Bread Co. makes the lightly buttered buns, and a long list of topping options finish it off, including the Guac-A-Dog (avocado, fresh jalapeño, tomatoes, diced onion, roasted garlic aioli, cilantro, cumin, and lime) or the Sunshine Dog (pickled red onions, fresh dill relish, cream cheese, and mayonnaise). Vegetarians can rest easy as there is a tofu dog option as well. The crowd favorite, however, is the Ol’ Zapata Dog, a mess of bacon, Muenster cheese, caramelized onions, tomatoes, jalapeño relish, house-made ketchup, and mayonnaise.

Visitors can sit outside on one of two patios and enjoy a rotating selection of Texas craft beer options and even a few Texas wines.

And while the food truck that started it all is working less these days, it is now being used for catering and special events.
