Texas Junk Company

215 Welch St | Houston, TX 77006

For more than 20 years, Robert Novotney’s well-organized warehouse of a store has been a local institution for Lone Star trinkets, knick knacks and vintage cowboy boots. Texas Junk Co. isn’t the kind of store that you’ll stumble upon during a visit—it’s a destination, all on its own.
Tucked away in Fourth Ward, the spot’s quirky exterior is marked by rows of tired garage doors, a faded snake mural and a hand-painted sign promising more than 1,000 boots starting at $30. Upon entering, customers will be happy to discover that although the place is truly filled with junk—broom handles, old picture frame parts, knobs and everything else—Novotney keeps it very organized.
Wade past the oddities and to the back corner, where shelf after shelf of boot styles await. Novotney’s selection of used boots is well-known in the city and is especially popular around rodeo season. Select from like-new and pre-loved varieties for women, men and children. Word to the wise: The spot is open Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and accepts cash or checks only, so come prepared!
