J.R.'s—like its sister bars in Dallas and Denver—is a quintessential stand-and-model bar with attractive Southwestern-inspired decor and fabulous patio.

The Montrose-set spot is an H-Town staple among the LGBT crowd, offering cheap drinks, quick services and a good mix of music and videos. While it may not be the cleanest bar in the gayborhood, it does draw a loyal following that return for a laid-back atmosphere and generous happy hour that begins at noon and wraps up at 10PM Monday through Saturday.

Stop by for $2 Tuesdays and, on the weekends, snag a ride on the free limobus that shuttles patrons between Meteor and the strip. The shuttle runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9PM until 2:30AM.
