For the month of September, the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau (GHCVB) welcomes 23 conventions, trade shows, events and other meetings to the city. More than 27,400 attendees will spend an estimated $26.7 million in Houston during this month. The following are some of September's largest conventions:

The Turbomachinery Laboratory at Texas A&M University-Turbomachinery Symposium & Short Courses The Turbomachinery Laboratory at Texas A&M University will hold their 36th annual Turbomachinery Symposium Sept. 10-13 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The Symposium continues to be the only meeting organized by users for users that serves to promote professional development, technology transfer, peer networking and information exchange among industry professionals. This year's program is specifically structured to meet the needs of employees with an increasing degree of responsibility for pumps and rotating equipment. The Symposium is an ideal source for users concerned with maintenance, performance, troubleshooting, operation and purchase of rotating equipment, as well as for companies meeting their continuing education, professional development and training requirements. The exhibit hall will feature products from many key companies in the industry, and will allow attendees to get knowledgeable help from the company's "first-team" players, in addition to seeing major exhibits of equipment. More than 4,400 delegates are expected to attend, with an economic impact of approximately $4.2 million.

Texas Travel Industry Association-Travel Summit The Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA) will hold their annual Travel Summit Sept. 23-26 at The Westin Galleria. TTIA is a nonprofit organization made up of businesses, organizations, associations and individuals dedicated to developing Texas tourism to its fullest potential. The Texas Travel Summit is TTIA's annual statewide educational conference covering a vast array of tourism topics, including tourism trends, marketing and promotions, new products/services and governmental affairs. The four-day program will offer travel and tourism industry professionals from throughout Texas networking opportunities, educational and roundtable sessions, keynote speakers and a trade show. The Governor's Tourism Office will kick-off the conference with the unveiling of the new state advertising campaign. During the conference, attendees will hear educational lectures that focus on today's issues and the future of Texas tourism's impact on the state. Notable speakers, including Houston Mayor Bill White; Keith Kasen, chairman/president of Busch Entertainment Corporation; and Larry Kellner, chairman and CEO of Continental Airlines, will speak to attendees on cultural tourism and its impact on the tourist industry. More than 500 attendees are anticipated, which will bring approximately $487,000 to the local economy.

Women of Faith Inc.- Amazing Freedom 2007 Conference
Christian women from around the U.S. will head to the Toyota Center Sept. 28-29 for Women of Faith - Amazing Freedom 2007. This inspiring two-day nondenominational Christian conference provides hope and encouragement to women of all ages and stages of life. The 2007 theme, Amazing Freedom, is about the promise of freedom and why your circumstances and your past don't matter. During this conference, more than 16,000 women will have the opportunity to start or renew their relationship with God and connect with other women. The program aspires to help women renew their spirit with messages of hope and humor from the Women of Faith speaker team. During the two days, attendees will hear Christian speakers, including award-winning Christian author Max Lucado; musicians and comedians for hours of inspiration, laughter and tears. The Houston conference is one of 28 scheduled around the nation this year. More than 16,000 delegates are expected to attend the Houston conference, with an economic impact of approximately $15.5 million.
