United States Institute for Theatre Technology, Inc. – USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo The United States Institute for Theatre Technology (USITT) will hold their Annual Conference & Stage Expo March 19-22 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The conference is a focal point for performing arts and entertainment professionals and offers more than 175 sessions featuring design, technology, costume, sound, architecture, management, engineering and production. Held in a different North American city each year, the conference attracts attendees from all over the world who share their knowledge and expertise with one another. Stage Expo showcases businesses, products, services, and educational opportunities in the performing arts and entertainment industry. With more than150 exhibitors, Stage Expo provides conference attendees with the opportunity to see the newest and best products and services on the market today. Stage Expo is also the setting for special technical and design exhibitions, as well as craft demonstrations. More than 3,500 delegates are expected to attend, with an economic impact of approximately $3.4 million. National Collegiate Athletic Association – NCAA 2008 South Regional Division 1 Men’s Basketball Championship The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) will hold their South Regional Division 1 Men’s Basketball Championship March 28-30 at Reliant Stadium. This is the second weekend of NCAA March Madness and will include two sessions: the Friday semifinals (two games) and the Sunday championship game. The Regional will determine one of the four teams that will advance to the Men's Final Four™ in San Antonio, Texas. More than 25,000 people are expected to attend, which will bring approximately $24.3 million to the local economy. ### |
