Contact Information: Allen Kantorowitz has joined the GHCVB sales team as the new national account manager for the Northeast, based in the New York area. Allen’s role will be to develop the corporate and association markets for the region. Allen has more than 20 years of sales experience in the Northeast market. Allen started his career in sports working in public relations for the Cleveland Indians and New York Knicks. He started his hospitality career with the New York Convention & Visitors Bureau in membership and moved to a director’s role with the Long Island CVB. Then, as an account manager with Delta Air Lines, he worked with travel agencies to increase business. His experience in hotel sales in the New York City area includes the Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn Downtown, Marriott, Radisson and most recently as the director of sales with La Quinta Inn & Suites in Secaucus, NJ. “I love the tourism industry, and I’m always on top of latest industry trends,” said Mr. Kantorowitz. “Houston, Texas has the right infrastructure for the 21st century, and it has just what planners are looking for when booking convention business. This city has come so far in such a short period of time. I consider it one of the greatest cities in the United States and plan to work hard to see that it exceeds expectations.” Allen grew up in Los Angeles, Calif, and is a big Jimmy Buffett and baseball fan. He graduated from the State University College at Buffalo, NY with a BA in Journalism. Paula Moreno has joined the GHCVB’s tourism department as the new international frequent individual traveler (FIT) and group sales manager. Paula brings a strong international presence to the tourism department as she is fluent in French, Spanish, Portuguese and English. In her new capacity, she will work the international meetings, incentives, conventions and events (MICE) market to help the tourism department book international meetings. Ms. Moreno is new to the tourism industry but brings solid knowledge in sales and marketing from experience at Vinson and Elkins law firm, where she worked in their International Corporate Finance and Securities Department, as well as her time working at Tomsi Homes, where she excelled in sales and was the leader in sales for her team. “I am really looking forward to helping the Greater Houston CVB break into the international markets when it comes to selling itself as a destination,” said Ms. Moreno. “With all the great convention facilities and unique attractions Houston has to offer, I can’t think of a better time to join the Houston team!” Ms. Moreno is originally from Colombia, holds a BA in International Business from the University of Houston and is an active volunteer in the Brazilian and Colombian consulates in Houston. DEPARTMENTAL CHANGES: Ed Dramberger, formerly the tourism marketing manager for Europe, Middle East and Asia, has moved to the GHCVB’s convention sales team as national account executive. Ed will now be handling energy and high tech accounts and be working with hotel corporate sales professionals to provide leads for group meetings and conferences. Mr. Dramberger has been working in the tourism industry for more than 20 years. Prior to working at the GHCVB, he was director of tourism at Del Mar College and a professor at Virginia Tech University. He has also taught in Africa and Switzerland at hotel tourism colleges. Ed has worked in sales and marketing capacities within the hotel industry and is a certified meeting planner. He has spoken at numerous tourism conferences and has published articles in travel trade journals. Ed holds an MBA in International Marketing, a Masters degree in Hospitality Management and has taken PhD courses in International Tourism. ### |
