Don't Know Houston? Just Ask VeronicaJanuary 7, 2009
Contact Information: Taking a trip inevitably leads to questions, and many locals don't have the answers. Having a personal concierge to answer all your questions could be the difference between having a good trip and having a great trip—because of the insider information you've received. The Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau (GHCVB) has launched an online concierge service—Ask Veronica—featuring Veronica Nielsen, the GHCVB's longtime visitor information manager. Veronica has been answering visitor questions via phone for eight years and recently expanded her role to the World Wide Web. Since the launch of the Ask Veronica portal on www.VisitHoustonTexas.com, nearly 300 people, from Houston to Moscow, have logged on to ask questions—ranging from what to do with children indoors to the best place to get a temporary driver's license. "This began as a service for Houston visitors," said Veronica, "but it's expanded into something much bigger. I never know what to expect when I come to work each day. These questions are keeping me on my toes!" The questions run the gamut of Houston information, and Veronica has answered them all: *I read something about 36ft tall statues of The Beatles somewhere in or around Houston's Katy Freeway and North Shepherd? Do you know if this is true and, if so, how to get there? *Looking for some places I can take a puppy other than Molly's Mutt House. Any suggestions? *My husband and I are visiting Houston and want to know where the best Texas BBQ is? We tend to like the local gives/hangouts. *What is Texas famous for? Like Canada is famous for Maple Syrup... *I want to go out tonight. What fun things are there to do in Houston? *Can you park on the street overnight in downtown Houston? *Looking for the best hairdresser or salon in Houston... *Can you recommend a place to dance Salsa in Houston? To ask Veronica a question, simply log on to www.VisitHoustonTexas.com/AskVeronica, or click on the Ask Veronica icon on the homepage. You can ask Veronica a question, or search categories to read previously answered items. Most questions are answered within 24 hours. About Veronica Prior to joining the Greater Houston Convention and Visitors Bureau, Veronica was the concierge manager for Enron Corp., as well as several hotels around the city. She's been a Houstonian since 1964. ### |
