Deer Park

Founded in 1892 by farmer and former legislator Simeon Henry West, the community of Deer Park is recognized for its railroad history and its role as a hub for the energy industry.

Only 20 minutes southeast of downtown Houston, Deer Park’s proximity to the San Jacinto Monument and Battleship Texas highlights its connection to Texas history even earning it the honor of being called the “Birthplace of Texas”. Explore Patrick’s Cabin where the initial treaty papers were drafted following the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, securing Texas' independence from Mexico.

If shopping is more your speed, be sure to check out Norma’s Country Dreams where you can find unique presents for everyone on your list.  If it’s relaxation you’re after, Deer Park has multiple day spas that offer the ultimate in pampering.

Throughout the year, the community hosts events such as "Dive-In" movies at the Dow Park Pool, free open-air concerts and holiday celebrations. Deer Park is also home to the Battleground Golf Course, an 18-hole, 72-par facility that's also great for special gatherings.

The Art Park Players is one of the last dinner theater groups that remain in Texas. With four full-scale productions a year, this attraction brings folks to Deer Park for a unique brand of entertainment.
