Founded in 1892 by farmer and former legislator Simeon Henry West, the community of Deer Park is recognized for its railroad history and its role as a hub for the energy industry.
Only 20 minutes southeast of downtown Houston, Deer Park’s proximity to the San Jacinto Monument and Battleship Texas highlights its connection to Texas history even earning it the honor of being called the “Birthplace of Texas”. Explore Patrick’s Cabin where the initial treaty papers were drafted following the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, securing Texas' independence from Mexico.
