- The George Ranch Historical Park; If you are looking for an authentic ranching experience, a visit to the George Ranch Historical Park is a must. This 480-acre living history site, with more than 100 years of Texas history, offers hands-on experiences and costumed historical interpreters. - Texas Ranch Life: The peace and quiet of the Texas outdoors and the excitement of a working cattle ranch jingle your spurs? Then mosey over to Texas Ranch Life, a guest ranch located just about an hour northwest of Houston off Texas Highway 290. Enjoy horseback riding, cattle roundups, fishing, hunting, birding, antiques, splitrail and picket fences lined with heirloom roses, and scenic view of rolling ranchland and native pecan bottoms. There’s also a mechanical bull in the arena just waiting for you. You can stay on the Texas Ranch Life’s Lonesome Pine Ranch at any one of the five beautifully restored amenity-laden historic homes.
