The Greater Houston Soaring Association gives glider rides every weekend, weather permitting. Soaring in modern sailplanes gives you the opportunity to fly like the eagles. Today's sailplanes can fly for hours and cover great distances.
GHSA offers the relaxation of watching glider operations (to everyone); the exhilaration of a glider flight (to those interested in taking a ride); and the opportunity to obtain a pilot license (for those interested in taking lessons).
Appointment scheduling for both rides and lessons begins the Monday prior to the weekend. However, they do try to accommodate those who stop by without an appointment.
The Greater Houston Soaring Association is made up of members from the Houston area organized for the purpose of educating the public and its members about the sport of soaring. GHSA is a non-profit corporation and is a chapter of the Soaring Society of America (SSA).
