The Lighter Side of the Recession

Start Date: September 3, 2009
End Date: November 21, 2009

Radio Music Theatre is pleased to announce the opening of its latest original comedy revue, The Lighter Side of the Recession. This two-act show combines original comedy sketches and music inspired by our current economic woes, and all of the laughs are brought to you by a rambunctious local furniture salesman named Uncle Dan, who was recently the victim of arson. (Sound familiar?) Adding to the fun is a longer comedy sketch featuring RMT’s most popular characters, The Singing Fertle Family from Dumpster, Texas.

This show, written and directed by Steve Farrell, will also feature a rare live performance of one of RMT’s original pieces created for NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.” The film short, a parody of Japanese horror movies, was shot on slides, using miniature dolls as actors, and RMT’s cast (Steve Farrell, Vicki Farrell, and Rich Mills) will perform all of the character voices and sound effects live.

The Lighter Side of the Recession will open on Thursday, September 3, and run through November 21, 2009, with performances every Thursday and Friday at 8:30, and Saturday at 8:00 and 10:30 p.m. Desserts, snacks, wines, champagnes, beers, cappuccino, and soft drinks are available throughout the show. Admission is $24.00, reservations are recommended, and tickets can be purchased in advance at Radio Music Theatre (2623 Colquitt, near Richmond and Kirby) or by calling the theatre box office at (713) 522-7722.
