This colorful bistro spices up Midtown with creative Latin fusion cuisine.

The vibrant bougainvillea-colored walls at this casual bistro provide the perfect backdrop for prosaic silver chairs and white tablecloths. The space is small, but well-planned, and large floor-to-ceiling windows provide an airy feel (and unobstructed views of the light rail). Servers are friendly and informed.

Chef David Sanchez (formerly of Artista) blends Latin flavors with Asia and the Mediterranean. Begin with the bisque, redolent of roasted lobster and sherry. Tapas standouts include the pinchos de puerco--skewers of pork tenderloin stuffed with dates--and the baked Brie crepes drizzled with fig and adobo chili compote. Jumbo shrimp sauteed with achiote are enlivened by honey-tamarind dipping sauce. Grilled quail is a smoky treat, stuffed with andouille sausage and an accompanying red mole sauce. Side dishes show the same global flair with roasted plantains, Serrano ham-wrapped asparagus, saffron whipped potatoes or ginger snow peas. Pumpkin flan or coconut cake provide a satisfying finish.

Try a specialty cocktail, like the refreshing pineapple mojito. The wine list offers half bottles and a range of price and label selections.

Take the METRORail and exit the HCCC/Ensemble stop.
