Strip House

The Shops at Houston Center get a taste of New York's upscale, playfully bawdy steakhouse.



Sexy and sumptuous, the Strip House tempts the senses. Decked out entirely in crimson, the atmosphere is enhanced by dim lighting, red leather banquettes and kittenish photos of burlesque stars adorning the walls. Well-dressed, moneyed diners mingle in a cozy bar area awaiting tables. Service is attentive and understated.



Executive chef John Schenk enlivens a traditional menu with luxurious sides and signature flourishes. Rich bisque conceals crisp red-pepper ravioli and Maine lobster. Featured cuts of meat include filet mignon, porterhouse, rib chop and double-cut strip steak. Sample the weighty veal T-bone, expertly cooked and simply seasoned with a refreshing salad of roasted pepper and parsley. Tender pan-seared red snapper rests atop a pile of artichokes, pancetta and fingerling potatoes. Unforgettable sides include crisp goose-fat potatoes, thyme-roasted wild mushrooms and truffled cream spinach. Linger over the awesome five-inch-high chocolate cake for a decadent finish.
