Américas braves new territory with its adventurous “New World Cuisine” with a menu crafted from the foods and cooking techniques of North,Central and South America. Named Restaurant of the Year by Esquire magazine the year it opened in 1993, Américas evokes excitement from the very entry. Generous salads are bathed in rich, creamy dressing. Try the garlic-laden Caesar de pollo or the ensalada de pollo asada. Other options include the applewood-smoked, bacon-wrapped tuna with creamed fettuccini and chili peppers or the pork tenderloin sautéed with lime, scallions and roasted peppers served on a Mexican torta. The signature hearty black-bean soup served in a bread boule is good, but the Chilean redwood-smoked salmon filled with roasted-corn mousse is more luscious. Finish with tres leches cake, notably more flavorful and moist than others around town. Tapas are served Monday through Friday from 4pm to 7pm and are both fast and memorable. |
