I love Rice Village. It feels like a little New York. I love that you can park and just walk around. The Rice Village has great mom and pop shops like LOT 8 and Hemline, and big stores like Banana Republic, Pier 1, and Sephora. After shopping, I love that I can grab a quick bite at Jason Deli's or a have nice sit-down meal Mi Luna. After having a great meal. I can walk it off at the walking/running trail or still do more shopping. At night, the Rice Village comes alive with tons of outdoor bars like Bronx Bar and Brian O' Neill's.
Houston is the unknown fashion frontier. Houstonians love fashion, and I love how they have embraced and supported all local designers.
Where do I shop? Barney's Co -Op, Target and antiques shop in the Heights.
My perfect day in Houston begins by reading a little in bed in the morning, listening to "Fresh Air Weekend " and "This American Life" on NPR and then brunch at Farrago. Then I'll shop at Rice Village or The Galleria and go to Central Market for groceries. My boyfriend and I will make dinner and relax at home.
I always take people from out of town to the Houston Zoo, and then to Cyclone Anaya for the best chips and salsa in Houston. Thai Spice has the best Thai food.
Sunset Street, in West U, is a great little treasure of a walking street.
No matter how big and cosmopolitan Houston becomes, it still has that down home feeling.
