The latest Travel Value Index from the folks at Hotwire.com shows Houston is the fourth best value in the country, up from sixth place in the 2011 index. Houston Named One of the South's Tastiest Towns

Houston is the best culinary city in Texas and one of the best in the South. That's according to the readers of Southern Living magazine, who ranked the top ten tastiest towns in the region in a massive, multi-week online poll. Houston came in at No. 6 with 14,321 votes. Moody Gardens Hotel to get $20M Upgrade

One of region's largest resort properties is getting a facelift. Work will begin this summer on $20 million in upgrades at Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa & Convention Center on Galveston Island. The 428-room property completed in 1998 will see improvements in both guest rooms and common areas. Officials with the hotel say the renovation is necessary to maintain the AAA Four-Diamond rating. More than 255,000 people turned out for barbecue, music and good times at Reliant Park this past weekend for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's World Championship Bar-B-Que Contest. It was a new attendance record for the annual event, up 4.5% from last year's total of 244,000 participants. HMNS Offers Sneak Peek of New Hall

Yesterday, the Houston Museum of Natural Science gave media a sneak peek at its massive new Paleontology Hall set to open this summer.
