Hotwire.com: Houston's Value as a Destination Gets Even Better

The latest Travel Value Index from the folks at Hotwire.com shows Houston is the fourth best value in the country, up from sixth place in the 2011 index. The annual index looks at all U.S. destinations and ranks them based on low rates, discounts, affordable entertainment and overall appeal. Moody Gardens Hotel to get $20M Upgrade

One of region's largest resort properties is getting a facelift. Work will begin this summer on $20 million in upgrades at Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa & Convention Center on Galveston Island. The 428-room property completed in 1998 will see improvements in both guest rooms and common areas. Officials with the hotel say the renovation is necessary to maintain the AAA Four-Diamond rating.
