There is nothing better than a warm stack of pancakes slathered with melted butter and topped with warm, thick syrup (with a side of crispy bacon, of course). September 26th is National Pancake Day and we wanted to help you make this year extra special. From pumpkin to Red Velvet, we tracked down the most unique pancakes you can find in Houston right now.
Baby Dutch Pancakes: The Classic All Day
Perched on the eastern edge of Memorial Park, “The Classic” is a fresh-faced American bistro with a touch of retro charm. They serve a pancake called the “Baby Dutch.” It’s made with lemon, vanilla, maple syrup and topped with seasonal fruit and powdered sugar. It’s served in a mini-dutch oven type of cast iron pan, which really makes you feel like you are eating pancakes at your grandma’s house.
Blueberriest Buttermilk Pancakes: Poitin

You know any place that has something called “bad ass muffins” on the menu has to have cool and creative pancakes. The Blueberriest Buttermilk Pancakes are made with blueberry ginger compote and sweet lemon ricotta. These pancakes melt in our mouth and are just perfect with the Praline bacon.
Lemon Ricotta Pancakes: First Watch
First Watch is a breakfast / brunch spot with nine locations around town. The Lemon Ricotta Pancakes were originally a seasonal menu item back in 2014, but they were so popular and customers asked - so they put them on the menu for good! The pancakes are made with fresh, whipped ricotta cheese in multigrain batter. They are served topped with marinated berries and creamy lemon curd.
Smashin' Pumpkin Pancakes: Snooze
The Snooze Houston locations might just have the lockdown on cool pancakes. On the menu, Pineapple Upside Down, Sweet Potato Pancakes and their newest creation: The Smasin’ Pumpkin Pancakes. The homemade pumpkin pancakes have cream cheese filling topped with bourbon-infused maple syrup, sweet cream drizzle & maple-spiced pepitas. They also surprise guests with a “pancake the day.”
Red Velvet Pancakes: Dish Society

The farm-to-table diner offers three kinds of flapjacks: housemade buttermilk, organic gluten free and the all-new extra decadent Red Velvet Pancakes topped with thick ribbons of cream cheese icing. The hefty plate-sized cakes are finished off with fresh fruit and powdered sugar as well as add-on offerings such as white chocolate chips or candied pecans.
