When you’re in Houston, a need for Mexican food will likely hit you hard. One perfect lunch option to curb that craving is Caracol Mexican Coastal Kitchen. The restaurant’s two for $24 lunch menu is a great option to get multiple tastes of Mexico. Enjoy two delicious dishes of your choice including the pozole verde, smoked calamari with onions, peppers and chipotle-tomatillo salsa, ceviche with lime-cured snapper, creamy lobster rice with corn and chipotle butter, crispy rolled pork tacos with avocado-tomatillo salsa and raw tuna tostadas to name a few potential pairings. There are also raw oysters on the half shell, along with other entrées like the crispy catch of the day, shrimp tacos, and chicken and cheese stuffed poblano peppers.

Another culinary change of pace would be the delicious Italian-inspired bites at North Italia. Enjoy happy hour zucca chips, the daily pizza, bruschetta or chef’s charcuterie board coupled with a $5 glass or $16 bottle of red wine, white wine or sangria.

Dinner

One romantic spot for dinner is Etoile Cuisine et Bar also in Uptown Park. The French food at this Uptown establishment does not disappoint and changes depending on seasonal availability. The seared foie gras is not to be missed, as well as the mushroom ravioli with port wine, white truffle oil and aged Parmesan. There’s also a divine roasted duck breast. Further, patrons can give back to the local community when they order off of the prix fixe menu. Let the wait staff expertly guide you through the menu with recommendations on house favorites.

Uptown Sushi is another great Uptown Park option for anyone wanting delicious Japanese-fusion and sushi for dinner. After a big day of eating, sushi is often the perfect way to lighten up you meal. Recently, Uptown Sushi underwent a complete renovation of its restaurant and menu. Chef Donald Chang has signature nigiri options like tuna with tamari soy sauce, fennel, jalapeño and infused tofu or freshwater eel with in-house mango cheesecake. There are also plenty of delicious maki like the Likety Split or Optimus rolls.

Dessert

We have one additional tip for visitors, save room for dessert! We suggest heading to Bouchée Patisserie in The Post Oak Hotel. Open late, this Paris-style confectionery is the perfect place to unwind, enjoy bonbons, cake, gelato, chocolate and specialty coffee. When walking into Bouchée Patisserie, you’ll feel like you just stumbled into a decadent Parisian hideaway for a late night treat.
