In celebration of this 50th Houston Jazz Month Season, the Houston International Jazz Festival (an electrifying weekend affair now in its 29th year) will commemorate the legacy of August Jazz Month. Friday August 2nd begins with a Kick-off party downtown at Axelrad Beer Garden, featuring the Summer Jazz Workshop (SJW) All Stars. The Saturday concert, “A Night of Jazz, Keys, and Song” at the University of Houston Cullen Performance Hall, shines the spotlight on featured artists, Pianist Alex Bugnon and Songstress Oleta Adams. Sunday closes out the weekend with the Annual SJW Scholarship Jazz Brunch, featuring celebrity guest conductor(s) ceremoniously using the baton of Arturo Toscanini – famous conductor of the NBC Symphony Orchestra in 1950. These are fun events for the entire family. #50SeasonsOfJazzExcellence #HIJF2019Friday, August 2ndKick Off Party (Hot Jazz and R&B)Show starts at 7:00 p.m.Axelrad Beer Garden1517 Alabama Street – Houston, Texas 77004Saturday, August 3rdLive Jazz Concert featuring Alex Bugnon and Oleta AdamsDoors open at 7:00 p.m. Show starts at 8:00 p.m.University of Houston Cullen Performance Hall4800 University Drive – Houston, Texas 77004Tickets are on sale at www.houstoninternationaljazzfestival.com Sunday, August 4thSummer Jazz Workshop Scholarship Jazz Brunch Program starts at 11:00 a.m. Junior League of Houston1811 Briar Oaks Lane – Houston, Texas 77027 August Jazz Month will showcase some of the most inspirational Jazz entertainment from around the world.
