Bach Society Houston (BSH) will welcome the Christmas season during its 40th Anniversary year with a choral and orchestral performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s rarely performed Christmas Oratorio. Under the direction of Rick Erickson, BSH conductor, the 1½ hour performance is set for Saturday, December 10 at 3:00 pm at Brockman Hall for Opera on the Rice University campus.

Bach Society Houston invites Houstonians to share in the joy of Bach’s glorious musical Nativity story. Richly scored, Bach used a wide variety of instruments including oboes, flutes, trumpets, drums, violin, continuo and more to express the joyful optimism of the season. Rising tenor Kyle Stegall returns to the BSH stage by popular demand in the role of The Evangelist. Listeners will be enveloped in sound featuring big choral moments juxtaposed with delicate and touching arias. It’s a not to be missed Christmas experience.
