Birdathon is a team-birding fundraising event that started back in 1981 and continues to grow each year. Teams are made of (4) or more participants. Teams compete to count as many bird species as possible in a 24-hour period and raise money much like a marathon. Birdathon includes a spring kick-off workshop and an awards celebration at the end of Birdathon. Birdathon is the Houston Audubon’s fun way to promote conservation. We encourage you to form a team and go out birding for a consecutive 24 hours (or less) and count as many bird species as you can. Birding can be done anywhere in Texas but we encourage you to visit our sanctuaries for a great birding experience!
