  • overview

This show consists of approximately 300 photographs, selected from a total of recently-made 1500 proof  prints of Geoff Winningham's continuing project, Changing Houston.  The project focuses on several aspects of the changing city, including: the natural landscape and the built landscape of Houston (as the two evolve together), the gradual disappearance of the 20th century vernacular architecture of the city and the new architecture that is replacing it; everyday fashion and style of Houstonians; popular celebrations of the city, including sporting events, celebrations, and contest. Because the show is a presentation of a work in progress, the large number of photographs are presented as working proofs, shown as one piece, as a massive contact sheet of the the evolving imagery.
