Death by Chocolate originally started in 2014 as a fundraising event to benefit Shoes for Kids, a 501(c)3 non-profit. This unique event was created by the collaboration of Christina Morales of Morales Funeral Home and Morales Memorial Foundation and the late Yolanda Black Navarro, founder of Shoes for Kids. Every year, the event grew, beating the previous years amount raised. In 2017, The Board of Directors from The Morales Memorial Foundation decided to adopt Death by Chocolate as its signature event and every year after, a new non-profit would benefit from Death by Chocolate. It was also decided to donate $1,000 each year to Shoes for Kids in honor of Yolanda Black Navarro.Death by Chocolate is a great way to kick off the Halloween/Day of the Dead season. The 5th Annual Death by Chocolate Dessert Party & Silent Auction benefits Barrio Dogs and The Zenteno Sculpture Project.
