Harris County Historical Commission invites everyone to a special event in conjunction with the Juneteenth celebration - the dedication of the Harris County Historical Marker for Sixth Church of Christ, Scientist. The church for 65 years in the Third Ward, stood as a beacon of inclusiveness and spiritual strength throughout Houston. The dedication will begin at Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist 4910 Montrose Blvd 77006 , at 11:00am on Friday, June 23rd. The program will include the history of the church, short speeches, and a reception. Immediately following will be the unveiling of the Marker at Sixth Church located at 2202 Elgin Avenue ( across from Emancipation Park ). Join city officials, guests, and others to learn a bit more about Houston history.
