A full schedule of events is planned this free Family Festival & Picnic on Saturday, including hourly cooking classes, yoga, tai chi, storytime, farm photo safaris, garden explorations, chicken and bee demonstrations, activities and games. Community partners will give hands-on creative and learning opportunities at creation stations for kids and adults located throughout the farm. Recipe For Success Foundation Healthy Eating Ambassadors will help kids in plant veggies in the Children’s Garden; Define Body and Mind will encourage visitors to live their best life through movement and mindfulness classes scheduled on the half hour on the Field of Moves. Celebrity Chefs and the Recipe for Success culinary team will give hands-on cooking classes scheduled on the hour in the Gathering Barn. Photographer Katie Lenhart will lead Farm Photo Safaris and our VegOut! Brand Ambassadors will challenge your food literacy with games and prizes. There will be story time under the Lace Elm Tree where families are encouraged to picnic. Besides just-harvested produce from the farm, the regular First Saturdays Hope Farm Stand will include Houston makers, artisanal foods and cookbook authors. The Sunnyside Community Center is serving a BBQ lunch for a donation and St. Arnolds Brewery will pour samples of beer and rootbeer.
