You have a memoir to write. But what if no one believes your account of things? Or, worse, what if they do? What will your friends say, how will your family react, what will your boss think? Will your parents disown you? Will your community shun you? When you decide to write the story of growing up in a dysfunctional family, or the shameful secret life as an addict, or a #MeToo tell-all accusing your abuser, the fear of what others may think often cripples your ability to write the truth. The power of the written word can paralyze you before you begin. This workshop will address your fears and help you come to terms with this hard-truth dilemma that so many memoirists face.
