With their graffiti and street art histories dating back to the mid-‘90s, James Burns and John Champion are no strangers to the more nefarious side of showing their work publicly. But as is often the case when dealing in operations that necessitate anonymity, they were living double lives - spending the better part of the past two decades covertly garnering notoriety under assumed monikers in the street, while at the same time developing their fine art and studio practice for the gallery. The long time friends and co-conspirators first exhibited together in a 2001 group show at Chicken Boy Studios. After continued respective gallery endeavors, James and John came together once again for their “Sleep Is The Cousin Of Death” two-person show at Gaslight Gallery. Followed through the late 20-teens each by solo and group exhibitions in Houston under the Cardoza Fine Art roster. The pair have collaborated on commissioned murals as recently as last year, coming full circle for their second joint show “Investment Opportunities” June 15th, 2019 at The Fat Cap Gallery.
