  • overview

Join Rice University’s Debra Dickinson in a unique exploration of American Musical Theater, the contributions of Jewish writers, composers and lyricists, and how these immigrants and their progeny helped shape a quintessentially American art form. Using spoken word, video clips and live performances by three multi-talented actors, this intriguing, uplifting evening reveals Jewish influence on an art form that has become a worldwide phenomenon–all through the lens of two giant landmarks in American Musical Theater–Fiddler on the Roof and Cabaret–both deeply rooted in the Jewish experience. Patron Sponsors: Suzan & Jeremy Samuels Theatre at the J is funded in part by the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance.
