The Hilton Americas-Houston pastry team has created a monumental one and-a-half-story gingerbread house in the hotel's main Lobby rotunda. Handcrafted from 500 pounds of gingerbread, 350 pounds of chocolate and 325 pounds of sugar, the structure towers over any holiday displays they’ve had in the past.
Outside the house you'll find chocolate children building a snowman, several chocolate deer, a chocolate bare-branched tree covered with fresh fallen snow, icicles and lights, and mailbox with letter to Santa, adding an additional 725 pounds of milk and white chocolate. The interior of the house is illuminated, allowing visitors to see the chocolate table and chairs, oven filled with gingerbread men on cookie sheets, pots, pans and cooking utensils inside. Also inside is a fireplace with chocolate logs and sugar flames, rocking chair and Christmas tree decorated with lights, sugar ornaments and gifts.
Upon completion, an estimated 750 man hours will have been needed to create the display. The scene is open to the public from Wednesday November 30 through Wednesday December 28th.
