“Runaway Blues” is undergirded by a soundtrack featuring several original songs by its playwright and director, Aisha Ussery, M.Ed. Get on board and support Music Doing Good in Schools’ “Runaway Blues.”“Oftentimes youth feel misunderstood and battle with the hardship of simply being their authentic selves. While the idea of uniqueness is celebrated, it is seldom supported with acceptance, causing individuals to feel like outcasts and seek refuge in isolation. I composed music and wrote “Runaway Blues” to speak to a growing population of children who feel their only option is to run away. Through this piece, my goal is to help them identify support systems within their friend circle and community. And if that does not work, it is important to encourage oneself and Be Your Own Sunshine,” shares Program Director, Aisha Ussery, M.Ed.
