Every year the Pleasure Island Bridge Half Marathon draws runners ready to raise their hands in victory after crossing Port Arthur’s scenic crossing over the Sabine-Neches Canal. This year, runners 138 feet above the water are encouraged to run in costume.

Pleasure Island is an 18.5-mile long man-made body of land, extending from the mouth of the Neches River on the northwest to the Sabine Causeway on the southeast and is surrounded by Sabine Lake and the Sabine Neches Intracoastal Waterway. Half Marathon and 10K participants take on the 5,032-foot bridge and 2 milers enjoy the speed of a flat, fast course.
